    Product Description

    Type B Thermocouple Wire

    Product Overview

Type B thermocouple wire is a high-performance precious metal thermocouple consisting of two platinum-rhodium alloys: a positive leg with 30% rhodium and 70% platinum, and a negative leg with 6% rhodium and 94% platinum. Designed for extreme high-temperature environments, it is the most heat-resistant among common precious metal thermocouples, excelling in stability and oxidation resistance at temperatures exceeding 1500°C. Its unique dual-platinum-rhodium composition minimizes drift caused by platinum evaporation, making it ideal for long-term high-temperature measurement.

    Standard Designations

    • Thermocouple Type: B-type (Platinum-Rhodium 30-Platinum-Rhodium 6)
    • IEC Standard: IEC 60584-1
    • ASTM Standard: ASTM E230

    Key Features

    • Extreme Temperature Resistance: Long-term operating temperature up to 1600°C; short-term use up to 1800°C
    • Low EMF at Low Temperatures: Minimal thermoelectric output below 50°C, reducing cold junction error impact
    • Superior High-Temp Stability: ≤0.1% drift after 1000 hours at 1600°C
    • Oxidation Resistance: Excellent performance in oxidizing atmospheres; resistant to platinum evaporation
    • Mechanical Strength: Maintains ductility at high temperatures, suitable for harsh industrial environments
