Description
Manganin (Cu86Mn12Ni2 / 6J12) is a copper‑manganese‑nickel alloy known for its exceptionally low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) and low thermal EMF versus copper. Our Manganin strip covers an ultra‑wide thickness range from 0.01mm (thin foil) up to 6.0mm (heavy ribbon), offering maximum design flexibility for precision current shunts, standard resistors, and high‑stability measurement instruments.
The strip is precision rolled with tight thickness tolerances (±5% to ±10% depending on thickness), and can be slit to custom widths from 2mm to 200mm. It is supplied in coils, flat strips, or cut‑to‑length pieces, with annealed (soft) or half‑hard temper options.
Key Advantages
- Ultra‑low TCR: ≤ ±20 ppm/°C (20–60°C), typically ±10 ppm/°C
- Very low thermal EMF against copper (< 1 μV/°C)
- Excellent long‑term ageing stability (drift < 0.1% over years)
- Good solderability and weldability for shunt connections
- Available from foil thickness (0.01mm) to heavy plate (6mm)
- Custom slitting to any width down to 2mm
Typical Applications
- Precision current shuns for energy meters, EV chargers, battery testers
- Laboratory grade standard resistors and decade boxes
- Current sensing elements in power supplies and inverters
- Precision voltage dividers and measuring bridges
- High‑power shunt resistors for industrial equipment
