Thermal bimetallic materials are composite materials firmly combined by two or more layers of alloys with different linear expansion coefficients. The alloy layer with a larger expansion coefficient is called the active layer, and the alloy layer with a smaller expansion coefficient is called the passive layer. An intermediate layer for regulating resistance can be added between the active and passive layers. When the environmental temperature changes, due to the different expansion coefficients of the active and passive layers, bending or rotation will occur.
The 5J1580 thermal bimetallic sheet is widely used in the temperature control, instrument and meter industry, and electrical industries such as overload protectors. For example, it is used as the thermal sensitive element in current-type automatic control switches, automatic safety protection switches, fluid (gas/liquid) valve switches, and electrical protection devices such as thermal relays, circuit breakers, and motor overload saturators.
In practical applications, when choosing a thermal bimetallic sheet, multiple factors need to be considered, such as the current level the component withstands, the operating temperature, the maximum temperature the component will undergo, the requirements of displacement or force, space limitations, and working conditions. At the same time, the type (low-temperature type, medium-temperature type, high-temperature type, etc.), grade, specification, and shape of the thermal bimetallic also need to be determined through calculation according to specific usage requirements.
